Static Route Configuration using DHCP

[tweetmeme]During my project deployment this week, I encountered an issue in reaching particluar subnet it’s because user’s default gateway is pointing to different gateway. This can be done by manually add static route in the host using the command below.

route add [target] mask [netmask] [gateway IP] metric [metric cost] if [interface]

This command works but is not applicable if you are adding static routes to hundreds or thousands of users. The solution is to use DHCP. Take note that in this article I’m using Windows 2003 Server.
