This article guides you how to create a Forticlient SSL VPN app launcher in Ubuntu 14.04.
First of all, download the Forticlient SSL VPN for Linux from support.fortinet.com. Make sure you have a valid contract to be able to download the software. As the time of writing the software version is 4.0.2303.
Once you got the software, extract it anywhere. I personally put 3rd party software on /opt. Make the entire package executable
chmod +x forticlientsslvpn.
Test it by running
You should get the EULA page, accept and the Forticlient window appears.
Go to settings to setup your connection SSL VPN profile.
Open Vim or Gedit, paste the configuration presented below. Make sure you change the Icon and Exec parameters to suit your needs. Save it to your desktop and name it as Forticlient.desktop.

Move Forticlient.desktop to /usr/share/applications/.
sudo mv ~/Desktop/Forticlient.desktop /usr/share/applications/
Open Dash, search for Forticlient and drag the icon to the Launcher.
